Crown Shade Selection

Picking a shade  for a crown or multiple crowns often requires multiple steps. The first step is to determine if the shade of the teeth we are matching to is adequate. If not, the teeth that the crown is matching to can be whitened prior to shade selection. Once the tooth being crowned is prepped, we take a shade of the natural tooth called the stump shade. Next, we take a shade of the desired final shade result. This is determined by the surrounding teeth largely. We place a temporary crown with the final shade selected to make sure the patient is happy with the selected shade. The final crown will match the temporary crown in terms of shade, shape and length lending to a seamless final insertion visit.
