Eating, Drinking, and Traveling with Invisalign

Always remove your aligners before eating.

Your Invisalign trays aren’t designed for chewing, so eating with them can warp or crack the plastic and trap food against your teeth.

Eat normally, but be considerate and plan ahead.

There are no food restrictions like there is with braces, but you’ll need to:

Remove aligners before meals and it is good to rinse or brush before putting them back in your mouth.

Safe drinks (with aligners in):

Plain water!

Drinks to avoid while wearing aligners:

  • Coffee or tea (stains + heat warping)

  • Soda and sports drinks (sugar + acidity)

  • Wine and juice (staining)

Traveling during Invisalign treatment is very manageable.

Pack these essentials:

  • Your current aligner case

  • Next set of aligners (just in case!)

  • toothbrush + toothpaste

Airport & flights:

Wear aligners during flights to maintain wear time

Remove them during meals and store them in the case (never a napkin!)
